Selfportrait (Autoportrait)
1991
In the exhibition space, a robot arrow indicated where Stéphan Barron could be found.
Stéphan Barron built this telephone operated robot in Collaboration with the engineer Jerome Gilbert, a specialist in home automation. The robot, in response to the digital frequencies emitted by the telephone, could point in 8 different directions (north-north-east, east, south-east, south, south-west, west, north-west).
Stéphan Barron moved around the exhibition space and communicated the different directions to the robot from public phones. He then pretended to leave on a "European tour" and stayed two weeks at home.
